Summer is arguably the most popular time to enjoy your motorcycle, but the warmer weather can bring about different riding experiences! Our team at Brookfield Indian Motorcycle® is here to make your motorcycle experience the best it can be, so continue reading for a few useful summer riding tips.

Clothing

It can be extremely tempting to dress in shorts and tank tops in the middle of summer, but when you ride a motorcycle in the summer it’s still important to wear comfortable yet protective gear. It’s highly recommended to wear long sleeves and lightweight but long pants while riding. Not only will this clothing protect you better in the event of an accident, but it can also protect your skin from sun exposure.

Also remember that even though the weather is warm, you still need to wear a helmet when you ride!

Hydration & Temperature Regulation

Riding a motorcycle is much more engaging than riding in a traditional vehicle. With hotter temperatures, it becomes even more important to stay hydrated! Make sure to drink plenty of water and electrolyte-filled beverages if you plan to ride for long periods of time.

You’ll also want to make sure to regulate your body temperature when you ride in the summer. Staying cool will be important! You can wet a bandana or invest in a hydration vest to help your body remain cool.

Awareness

Finally, as the weather gets nicer, more people will be out and about, including children on summer break. Make sure you are up-to-date on safe riding practices and that you stay aware of your surroundings as you ride.
